The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Robert (Bob) Ross Rue can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

My Friend

Fresh out of high school, a Blue Steak grad and a Warrior grad became good friends.  We played independent basketball together against the Harlem Magicians, and countless others.  Bob drove from N. IL, picked up his family in Casey and came to visit us in KY for a week-end.  Our first eight children were born in pairs just weeks apart.  Both of our birth control methods failed.  We all took a memorable trip to St Louis for a river ride on "The Admiral."  I learned to tolerate Bob's Cardinal addiction and his disdain for my beloved Cubs.  Finally in 2015 our difference was fun.  We went to basketball games together.  (Never Martinsville vs Casey, however he did appreciate son Matt's skill)  We rarely talked politics--for obvious reasons.  My biggest home-made ice cream fan made me always anxious to freeze up another gallon and one-half.  Bob Rue was a true friend who would have done anything for me within human ability as I would have for him. I know we will have a reunion one day.  Perhaps he is plastering a room in my mansion today.
