Leonal was a kind, caring, competent and compassionate man. He was keenly interested in bettering the lives of the students under his care and was a strong advocate for his staff. He knew every child in the school by name and was a fountain of information regarding their parents, many of whom he had as students. In the seven years before his retirement that I had the pleasure of working with him I can never recall him saying a bad word about anybody---even when it was warranted. He looked for the good in people and always accentuated the positive. His tireless efforts on behalf of children was one of contributing factors to the high esteem that he and Lincoln School had in the community. This wonderful person and excellent educator will be long remembered and his memory cherished.
