Charles Earnest (Charlie) Staley, age 85, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:27 pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. He was born August 30, 1931 in New Castle, IN the son of Charles Staley and Audrey Stinson Staley. On December 23, 1962 he married Carolyn Faye Breese in Oblong, IL.
Survivors include his wife of over 54 years, Rev. Carolyn Staley of Casey, IL; daughters, Debra (Clarence) Kemper of Casey, IL; Donna (Rev. Dr. Jimmy) Clifton of Millersburg, IN and Dede (Pastor Keith) Wallace of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Shadow and Haley Wallace, Rachel Clifton, Kristin, Laura and Jackie Kemper and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ralph, Victor, Russell, Delmar and Paul Staley and sister, Doris Ellen Heocheal.
Charles was US Army World War II veteran. He served his country as a Corporal from 1952 to 1954 in the 38th AAA Battalion. He retired from Casey Fertilizer after 35 years and worked part time for Leland Murphy Trucking as a driver and mechanic. He also worked at the Hydro Wash in Casey. Charles was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church in Martinsville, IL.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Mount Cemetery, south of Casey, IL with Pastor Keith Wallace and Rev. Dr. Jimmy Clifton officiating. Burial with military graveside honors will be conducted by the Casey VFW, Hazel Dell American Legion and Martinsville American Legion.
