Obituary for Jackie B. (McVey) Partlow

Jackie B. (McVey) Partlow
Jackie B. (McVey) Partlow, age 82, of Casey, IL passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017 in Casey, IL. She was born June 20, 1935 in Canebrake, West Virginia, the daughter of Elzie Clifford McVey and Nellie Mae Justice McVey. On October 4, 1956 she married Marion Partlow, Jr. in Casey, IL.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Marion Partlow of Casey, IL; son, Marshall (Dee) Partlow of Casey, IL; daughter, Maria (Troy) Huddleston of Yale, IL; grandchildren, Wayland (Jennifer) Partlow, Wyatt (Lindsay) Partlow, Whitney Partlow, Austin Partlow, Allison Huddleston and Alivia Huddleston; great grandsons, Kyler and Kason Partlow; brother, Fred (Barbara) McVey; sister in law, Roanna Partlow Victor and her children, Lauren and JW and their families; many nephews and nieces and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Elmer McVey.

Jackie was a 1954 graduate of Casey High School. In the early years she worked at Central Drugs in Casey before marrying the love of her life. Jackie devoted her life to her parents, husband, children and grandchildren and their many interests and cherished every moment. She was a wonderful cook, creating her own cookbooks and recipes from scratch. Their home always smelled of a fresh baked dessert or from cooking the many canned vegetables from the garden. Jackie always made sure everyone had their favorite cake on their birthday and was always the supplier of the homemade noodles, hot rolls and honey rolls on holidays. She loved freestyle canvas oil painting and has them displayed throughout her house. Jackie loved fashion (especially shoes, if she liked a pair she bought every color) and enjoyed keeping up with the latest hair and makeup trends. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and flower gardening, especially her rose bushes and spent countless hours mowing her yard and around the farm to her perfection. She enjoyed coffee and lunch with friends and especially treasured the time spent at her “mini” class reunions. She was a member of the Casey White Oak Church of God. Jackie and Marion enjoyed traveling; they drove many miles hauling race horses, picking up oilfield equipment, making trips in the semi-truck, driving her Corvette or riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle on many weekends throughout the US. They collected and restored antique tractors and attended shows as members of the Two-Cylinder Club and enjoyed as Jackie would say “antiquing”. Jackie made sure she was always available to help out when needed. On occasion and as necessary, Jackie could lend a hand and a wrench on the farm and in the oilfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will be in the Partlow Cemetery, rural Clark County, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to Heartland Nursing Center, PO Box 10, Casey, IL 62420. A very special thank you to Heartland Nursing Center (especially Karen, Erica and Jennifer) for their wonderful and loving expertise in caring for Jackie in her last days.
