Robert Eugene “Bob” Lang, age 87, of Ashmore, IL passed away at 9:06 pm on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 1, 1929 in Westfield, IL the son of Rev. Loren D. Lang and Elizabeth A. Snyder Lang. On December 21, 1954 he married Ruth Wandalee Green in Casey, IL.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Wandalee Lang of Ashmore, IL; son, Rick Lang of Charleston, IL; daughter, Patty (Mark) Jenkins of Casey, IL; son, Darrell (Connie) Lang of Ashmore, IL; sisters, Sandra (Maurice) Johnson of Charleston, IL and Shirley Saiter of Paris, IL; grandchildren, Adam (Ramie) Jenkins of Charleston, IL; Kristi (Eric) Montgomery of Ashmore, IL and Tyler (Kacie) Lang of Cobden, IL and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Doit Lang; sister, Betty Sloan and brother in law, Bill Saiter.
Bob was a 1947 graduate of Westfield High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Bob was a lifetime agricultural farmer in the Ashmore and Westfield area, a lifetime member of the Westfield Baptist Church and a member of the Westfield American Legion Post #0609. Bob’s favorite pastimes were mowing, gardening and spending time on the farm. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the Westfield Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Wilson and Rev. Gene Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the Enon Cemetery, rural Ashmore, IL with graveside military rites by Westfield American Post #0609 and Kansas American Legion Post #539. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Tuesday evening at the Westfield Baptist Church, 110 S. Fulton St., Westfield, IL.
