Shirley Ann Chronic, age 81, of Casey, IL passed away at 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born January 18, 1936 in Waynesboro, VA the daughter of Paul Syrus Mize and Mary Francis Matheney Mize. On May 20, 1954 she married William Eugene “Bill” Chronic, Sr. in Waukegan, IL.
Survivors include son, Doug Chronic and his wife Annetta of Largo, FL; daughter, Lori Ann Ring of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Sherry Chronic of Martinsville, IL: grandchildren, Payton Wade Chronic, Hailey Renee Chronic, Bailey Jo (Fred) Figley, Dylan Clark Burnett, Wyatt Eugene Burnett, Jesse Olin Burnett, Dalton James Cook and Desrea Lyn Cook; great grandchildren, Zachary Allen Figley, Madelyn Renee Figley, Charlee Grace Figley, Allison Paige Duvall, Teagan Renee Burnett and Sylas James Arnold and her nursing home family. She was preceded in death by her father Paul and her mother and step-father Mary and Ernie Chronic, husband Bill; infant daughter, Kathy Jo Chronic; son, Willard Eugene Chronic, Jr.; grandson, Cody Levi Chronic and son in law, Clay Ring.
Shirley spent her entire lifetime waitressing at various restaurants in the Casey area. She retired as a night cashier from Casey Amoco Service Station. She enjoyed reading western and romance novels. Shirley was a competitive and avid Bingo player; she and her friends traveled throughout Illinois and Indiana playing Bingo. Shirley was a Chicago Cubs fan her entire life and was thrilled when they won the World Series.
The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Nursing Center for the wonderful and loving care they gave Shirley for the past 4 years. The care they provided was awesome!
Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL.
