Edith Magdaline Liedtke, age 94, of Casey, IL passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Elmwood Nursing Home, Maryville, IL. She was born September 15, 1922 in Beatrice, Nebraska, the daughter of Henry Franz and Agatha Janzen Franz. On July 5, 1946 she married Dale D. Liedtke in Marysville, KS. He passed away on March 29, 1992.
Survivors include her sons, Gregg (Lana) Liedtke of Bethalto, IL and Steve Liedtke and special friend, Russell Lewis of San Diego, CA; her companion of many years, Bill Denby of Bethalto, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Marshall, Michael (Amanda) Liedtke and Brian (Trista) Liedtke; step grandchildren, Kim (Rob) Neathery and Andy (Wilmari) Hamilton and seven great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, her Church family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Eleanor Otto; brother, Robert Franz and daughter in law, Rose Liedtke.
Edith was a graduate of Beatrice High School in Beatrice, Nebraska. She retired from SKF in Casey, IL where she worked as a secretary and receptionist for many years. Edith was an active and faithful member of the Casey First Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors walking and playing BINGO. She especially loved playing with her great grandchildren, Trenton, Roselyn and Hayden.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be conducted at 12:15 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with Pastor Brian McCreanor officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
