Gary Allen Freeman, age 53, of Shelburn, IN (formerly of Casey, IL and Naperville, IL) passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at his home. He was born September 28, 1962 in Charleston, IL, the son of Max Lewis Freeman and Janet Louise Richardson Freeman. On September 8, 2012 he married Sandra Marie Haynes Pike in Casey, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Freeman of Shelburn, IN; mother, Janet Freeman of Casey, IL; two daughters, Amber Freeman of Marshall, IL and Rujeana (Michael) Jordan of Terre Haute, IN; two sons, Alexander Freeman of Casey, IL and Douglas (Lynn) Pike of Shelburn, IN; one sister, Cheryl Freeman of Casey, IL; one special niece, Alisha Freeman; one great niece, Bentlei Freeman; five beautiful grandchildren, Lexie Hamilton, Liliana Freeman, Baylee Jordan, Max Freeman, and Ganon Jordan; many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends including his childhood friends, Bobby Hart, Jim Rada, and Don O’Connell. Gary is also survived by his bird, Tuki; his fur babies, Shadow, Angel and Gizzy and his grand dogs, Dozer, Rose, Roxie and Buddy. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Max Freeman; stepson, Marcus Pike and childhood friend, Scott Matis.
Gary was a 1981 graduate of Downers Grove North High School, Downers Grove, IL. He worked as a mechanic, driver, and maintenance for Helena Chemical Company (formerly Casey Fertilizer) in Casey, IL for many years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Casey, IL. Gary loved to watch TV; he especially enjoyed wrestling, car shows and his favorite, Sons of Anarchy. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, he enjoyed traveling, especially cruises and playing the lottery. Gary was always a jokester; he had a contagious laugh and loved life. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family; although he is gone too soon he will forever be in the hearts of those who loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at the Casey First Christian Church, 200 SE Eighth St., Casey, IL with Pastor Curt Weaver officiating. Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL near his father.
