Peter Alan Zachary, 62, of Putney, Vermont, formerly of Martinsville, IL passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Rochester, NY. Pete was born on May 6, 1953 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Melton (Bud) and Mary (Ikemire) Zachary. He married Jill Judge on March 2, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV.
He is survived by his wife, Jill, of Putney, Vermont; daughter , Heather Zachary (Mike Wilhelmsen) of Joliet, IL; son, Nick Zachary of Plainfield, IL; sister, Steph Zachary, Paris, IL; brothers, Don (Shelly) Zachary, Sandwich, IL; Steve (Carla) Zachary, Martinsville, IL and Tom (Andi) Zachary, Calhoun, GA; aunts, June Ellington and Dorothy Hardway, Casey, IL; uncles, Lloyd Ikemire, Sandwich, IL and Stan Zachary, Green Valley, AZ; six nieces, four nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son.
Pete graduated from Martinsville High School in 1971 and attended Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN. He was Vice-President of Key Accounts North America for Rolls-Royce Nuclear Services in Rochester, NY. Pete’s favorite activity was golf and he was an active member of the Brattleboro Country Club, serving on various committees, including the office of President. He considered himself fortunate to play the game throughout the United States and Europe, including tournament golf.
Memorial services were held on February 12, 2016, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Brattleboro, VT, with Rev. Mary D. Lindquist, Rector, officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL with Reverend Gary Fortkamp officiating.
