Stephen Paul Fancher, age 72, of Casey, IL formerly of Sheridan, IL and Naples, FL passed away at 9:03 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. He was born October 3, 1943 in Terre Haute, IN the son of Nash Fancher and Margaret Maurine Agler Fancher.
Survivors include son, Doug (Michelle) Fancher of Marysville, WA; daughter, Stephanie (Todd) Miller of East Aurora, NY; brothers, James (Patricia) Fancher of Monticello, IN and Gary (Henrietta) Fancher of Greenfield, IN and grandchildren, Carly Miller and Cole Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Stephen was a 1961 graduate of Casey High School, where he was a member of the debate team and a graduate of Eastern Illinois University. He worked as a correctional officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections for over twenty years. Stephen was a member of the Casey Moose Lodge where he served as a former officer and had been awarded a 25 year certificate. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing tennis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Markwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Penelope H. Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
