Doris June (Watters) Harris, 82, of Urbana, IL formerly of Casey, IL passed away at 2:55 pm on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Presence Covenant Hospital, Urbana, IL. She was born July 1, 1933 in Hutton Township, Coles County, IL the daughter of Clyde Watters, Sr. and Myrtie Clara Smith Watters. On January 1, 1980 she married Jessie Irving “J.I.” Harris in Tuscola, IL.
Survivors include her husband, J.I. Harris of Kirksville, MO; son, Fred (Debbie) Wolfe of Carrollton, MO; daughter, Linda Bolinger of Urbana, IL; sister, Betty Hanners of Casey, IL; son in law, Donald Odle of Rock Springs, WY; stepson, Craig (Teresa) Harris of Kirksville, MO; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Charles, Harold, Jim, John and Howard Watters; sister, Wanda Phillips and daughter, Peggy Odle.
Mrs. Harris was a homemaker and worked as a former guard at the Murdock Coal Mine in Tuscola, IL. She enjoyed playing Bingo and adored her daughter Linda’s Chihuahua dog “Charlie.” Most of all she cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. John Blaylock officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 1 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
