Eva Adeline Collins Farley, 94, of Neoga, IL and formerly of Casey IL passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga, IL. She was born February 11, 1921 in Yale, IL the daughter of Berl Emil Collins and Ruby Snearley Collins. On August 1, 1940 she married Gordon Farley in Casey, IL. He passed away on March 29, 1990.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Green of Ashmore, IL; Debbie (Gary) Landsaw of Charleston, IL and Kim (Pete) Geckler of Avon, IN; son in law, Jerry Huddleston of Yale, IL; grandchildren, Tim (Becky) Huddleston, Tami (Charlie) Johnson, all of Ashmore, IL, Mark (Michelle) Moore, Andrea (Brian) Madlem, Brian (Heather) Todd, all of Charleston, IL, Brittany Swick of Indianapolis, IN and Zachary Swick of Portland, OR; great grandchildren, Matt Huddleston, Megan Huddleston, Miranda Huddleston, Mitchell Huddleston, Jake Johnson, Dylan Johnson, Mackenzie Walker, Brent Moore, Dalton Todd, Martha Todd, Dylan Todd, Cody Madlem and Wyatt Madlem; great great grandchildren, Avery Johnson and Rylie Walker; sisters, Wanda Robey of Greenup, IL and Anna Lee Collins of Terre Haute, IN and very special friend Linda Althoff of Effingham, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Mamie Hickox Collins; infant child; husband, Gordon Farley; daughter, Pam Huddleston; sister, Norma Jean Campbell; brother, Edward Collins; son-in-law, Norris Green and three infant grandchildren.
Eva was a 1938 graduate of Oblong High School. She became a hairdresser in the 1950’s after she self-schooled herself to pass the tests to receive her beautician’s license. She owned and operated Eva’s Beauty Shop for over 40 years in Casey, IL. She loved her profession and customers. Her strong work ethic made her business a successful one of which she was very proud.
Eva loved her family dearly and her daughters were always foremost in her thoughts. Through her guidance her daughters have always “stuck” together being there for each other. Her grandchildren were a bright spot in her life. Family gatherings were always special. Everyone loved her fabulous beef and noodles and her mile high meringue pies.
Eva was a former member of the Eastside Church of Christ. She was a strong remarkable woman. Eva faced many obstacles in her life head on with a strong resolve to keep going and be the best person she could be. Those who knew her were aware of her kind and loving nature. Her life lessons will live on in her daughters, grandchildren, and those who knew her best.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Penelope H. Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will held from 4 – 7 pm on Thursday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
