James Clark Rankin, 68, of Casey, IL passed away at 5:53 a.m. on Monday, September 7, 2015 at his home. He was born April 3, 1947 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Theron Clark Rankin and Lelia Irene Cox Rankin McDonald. On June 30, 1983 he married Judy G. Zarka in Casey, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Rankin of Casey, IL; sons, James T. (Lisa) Rankin of Charleston, IL and Charles L. (Casey) Mason of Casey, IL; daughters, Lisa M. Rankin of Charleston, IL, Angie (April Wampler) Rankin of Springfield, IL, Brandi Chrysler of Casey, IL; Suzette Ragon of Casey, IL; Stephanie (Johnny) Hanners of Hazel Dell, IL and Tara (Kevin) Boyer of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Hanners of Springfield, IL, Bryce Ragon of Charleston, IL; Derek (Mindy) Rankin of Champaign, IL, Jordan Hanners of Hazel Dell, IL, Landon Ragon and his fiancé Kierstyn Davis of Charleston, IL, Brayson Chrysler of Casey, IL, Kortnie (Alex) Shawver of Altamont, IL, Jayln Chrysler of Casey, IL; Morgan Boyer of Casey, IL, Phoebe Mason of Casey, IL and Katie Mason of Casey, IL; great grandchildren, Aaron Rankin and Rayna Shawver; brothers, Robert (Joann) McDonald of Springfield, IL, Jerry (Joyce) Rankin of Jacksonville, FL, and a sister, Margaret Davis of Effingham, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Delores Mason.
Jim attended school in Charleston, IL and Eastern Illinois University. Jim served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Casey Masonic Lodge, the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion. Jim was retired manager for a business outsourcing service. One of his greatest joys in life was the time he spent watching his children and grandchildren participate in their athletic events. Jim spent many years caring for Casey’s Cal Ripken baseball field.
Funeral services will be private with burial in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
