Maurice Edward Fasig, 89, of Martinsville, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by family and friends at 10:35 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born October 1, 1925 in Martinsville, IL the son of George Fasig and Bethany Mae Barbour Fasig. On October 3, 1947 he married Gwendolyn Bossert in Chicago, IL.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Gwen Fasig of Martinsville, IL; son, Carl Edward Fasig of Itasca, IL; daughters, Carol Ann (Randall) Good of Charleston, IL and Melody Mae Fasig of Terre Haute, IN; granddaughters, Bethany Mae (Thomas) Clemenson of Vinton, IA and Amanda (Albert) Weber of Clarksville, TN and great grandchildren, Gwen Clemenson(10), Gavin Clemenson(8) Aubree Weber(8), Abram Weber(2) and Alec Weber(1). He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Linda Louise Fasig.
Maurice was a man of God with strong moral character who loved his family dearly. His good nature earned him the title of “Grandpa Tease” by his great grandchildren who adored him. He was a faithful member of the Martinsville Bible Church where he served as an elder, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He served as the Bible Chairman and Chaplain of the Casey Camp of Gideons International since 1992 and was a volunteer for the local boy scouts and the WKZI radio station.
His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Martinsville Bible Church, 509 E. Ridgelawn Rd., Martinsville, IL with Pastor David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
