Dean F.  Fasig
Dean F. Fasig, 86, of Casey, IL passed away at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. He was born April 12, 1928 in Martinsville, IL the son of Edgar Fasig and Nellie Belle Ennis Fasig. On November 9, 1956 he married Dottie Perisho Huddlestun in Casey, IL. She passed away on April 19, 2001. He later married Carolyn Hawker Lansbery on October 16, 2005 in Hazel Dell, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Fasig of Casey, IL; sisters, Margaret Bennett and Mary Dillier of Casey, IL; stepdaughters, Aileen Shiels and husband Robert of Robinson, IL and Marsha Dillman and husband David of Hazel Dell, IL; stepsons, Randy Lansbery of Hazel Dell, IL and Mark Lansbery and wife Loretta of Oblong, IL; step grandchildren, Penny Ward, Misty Barthelme, Robin (Lloyd) Kemper, Shelly Musgrave and Jay Musgrave; eight step great grandchildren; seven step great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Louis Fasig; wife, Dottie Fasig; brothers, Paul, Bill and Claude Fasig; sister, Eloise Ramsey and step granddaughter, Pam Bright.
Dean was a 1946 graduate of Casey High School. He and Dottie owned and operated a grocery store on Washington Street for many years. Dean later retired from the US Postal Service after a career that spanned thirty years as a rural mail carrier, an Officer in Charge in Greenup, IL and Superintendent of Postal Operation in Casey, IL. He was a US Air Force Sargeant, serving his country from 1946 to 1949. He was a member of the Casey VFW Post 5762 and the Hazel Dell American Legion Post 1230. Dean was a member of the Kimlin Presbyterian Church in rural Casey. Dean’s favorite hobbies were mowing and mushroom hunting. He mowed for his sister Mary for many years and traveled to other states to hunt for mushrooms. One year Dean and John Glidewell found black mushrooms in the snow in Kentucky.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Brother Ivan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
