Richard H. (Dick) Turner, born in Rockville, IN on June 5, 1936, son of Willam H. and Marietta Turner, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Dick was residing at the Asta Care Center in Toluca, IL where he had resided for the past three years; he passed quietly in his sleep.
Dick is survived by the mother of his children, Jeniece Sullivan Stafford of East Peoria, IL, their daughter, Tamara (Nick) Purgatorio of Naperville, IL and son Ben (Flordeles) Turner of Ballwin, MO. Grandchildren are Grant and Garrett Borg of Naperville, IL and Ben’s children, Sam, Sienna, Spencer and Halle Turner of Ballwin, MO. Other survivors include his sister, Roberta (Bertie) Turner (A. J.) Whelan of Colorado Springs, CO, and brother Bob (Elaine) Turner of Casey, IL, and several cousins.
Dick was a 1954 graduate of Casey High School. He then enrolled at Southern Illinois University for one year; thereafter transferring to Eastern Illinois University where he graduated in 1958. Having grown up in Casey, he was very involved in working with his father in the International Harvester and Buick dealership. This training set the pace for Dick’s love of cars, having his own VW dealership in Kankakee, IL, then on to Springfield working in different dealerships as well as selling insurance.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
