Childhood
For Jim, Janice, David & Family:
Good memories of our childhood when our parents (Bob & Betty Thomas)
visited back and forth. I especially recall probably Janice having an extended play 45 record of Elvis from "Love Me Tender," perhaps the first Elvis record that I saw and our playing it several times one night when our family visited the Madlems. Also recall another later visit when Leon Wilson, who was later a high school classmate, was also visiting and we explored the various farm buildings, including the haymow. Of course, I cannot forget when I returned to teach at CHS and frequently encountered David. The connections seem even stronger as I have been doing some genealogical searching, which reminds of Jim and my grandmother Mae Walden Brown having been first cousins. My wife Evelyn and I just happened to see Linda Sue and her husband some years ago at one of the fast food restaurants off the Interstate at Marshall. I don't recall who recognized whom first, but we shared some good conversation and memories. Sincere condolences from the Thomases: Betty; Bob, Jr.; Jane; and Janet; and families.
