Miss Edna Jeannette Pumphrey, 92, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 3:50 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Cumberland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Greenup, IL. She was born May 31, 1918, in Johnson Twp., Clark County, IL, the daughter of Artie Leroy Pumphrey and Lulie Housman Pumphrey.

Survivors include her sister, Jeanne Hampsten of Yale, IL and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Wayne, Floyd, Kenneth and Cecil Pumphrey; sisters, Helen Martin, Ruby Matheny, Rosalie McKinzie and three infant sisters, Delia May, Georgia Faye and Mary Edith Pumphrey.

Miss Pumphrey retired from Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, where she worked in their housekeeping department for over ten years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Mr. Herschel Pumphrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Long Point Cemetery, Cumberland County, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
