Obituary for Jerry M. Oaks

Jerry M. Oaks, 76, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away at 5:35 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Cobblestone Crossings, Terre Haute, Indiana after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born February 12, 1935, in McComb, Ohio, the son of Howard Earl Oaks and Donelda Almeda Crouse Oaks. He married Donna Kay Phillippi on December 26, 1956 in Casey, Illinois.


Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Donna Phillippi Oaks of Terre Haute, Indiana; son, Steven Oaks of Lewisville, TX, sister in law and brother in law, Vernon and Paula Phillippi Roan of Gainesville, Florida; niece, Shannon Cox and husband Gary of Bradenton, FL and nephew, Ron Roan and wife Marlene of Wellington, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents.


Jerry retired in 2000 after thirty-one years of employment with the Indiana State Board of Accounts. He was a member of the US Army National Guard from 1957 to 1963.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. CST on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with the Rev. Dr. Penelope H. Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. CST prior to the service at the funeral home.
