John Franklin Lorton, age 75, of Casey, IL passed away at 4:34 am on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. He was born July 26, 1941 in Fayette County, IL, the son of Louis Albert Lorton and Mildred Vivian Forbes Lorton. On August 16, 1995 he married Ruth Ella Odle in Jonesboro, TN.

Survivors include his wife Ruth Lorton of Casey, IL; sons, Jerry (Gail) Lorton of Casey, IL and Jay Lorton of Casey, IL; daughter, Jana (Greg) Aydt of Charleston, IL; stepson, Michael Chapman of Casey, IL; step daughter, Mary (Scott) Applegate of Casey, IL; siblings, Brad Lorton of Herrick, IL; Faye (Chuck) Yoder of Casey, IL; Marcia Freeman of Katy, TX; Marilyn (Tom) Narasaki of Effingham IL; Sandra (Charles) Crouch of Herrick, IL; Sharon (Gary) Cable of Herrick, IL; Gary (Anita) Lorton of Cowden, IL; Carol Ann Buchanan of Ramsey, IL and Mike (Anita) Lorton of Cowden, IL; grandchildren, Brooke (Jeremy) Cramer, Bailey Lorton, Kelsey (Chad) Washburn, Aubrey (Ethan) Claypool, Jarrod Lorton, Katherine Aydt, April Ridgley, Travis (Shanean) Ridgley, Meghan Applegate and Elizabeth Applegate and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Roger Louis Lorton; infant sister, Merle Ellen Lorton and sister, Betty Matzenbacher.

Mr. Lorton was a carpenter and served as the Johnson Township Road Commissioner for many years

Graveside funeral services and burial will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 with Rev. Jon McDonald at Buchanan Cemetery, Fayette County, IL.
