Carolyn Sue (Gardner) Daugherty, age 78, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 8:40 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017at Heartland Nursing Center in Casey, IL. She was born on April 28, 1939 in Casey, IL, the daughter of Leonard Gardner and Letha Mae Short Gardner. On September 7, 1962, she married John H. Daugherty in Casey, IL. He passed away on September 23, 2013

Survivors include son, John William Daugherty of Florissant, MO; brother, Raymond Harold Gardner and wife Pat of Centre, AL; grandson, John W. Daugherty, Jr. of Florissant, MO; brothers in law, Jim (Diane) Daugherty of Metamora, IL and Otis “Jack” Daugherty of Martinsville, IL and sister in law, Mary Jane Wright of Martinsville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Mrs. Daugherty was a homemaker and employed in house cleaning, The Formal Light. She was a member of the Casey First Church of the Nazarene. Carolyn especially enjoyed gardening.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Ebbler officiating. Burial will follow in the Baird Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
