Obituary for Charles Glenn Finney

Charles Glenn   Finney
Charles Glenn Finney, age 88, of Casey, IL passed away at 12:48 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. He was born February 7, 1929 in Westfield, IL, the son of Kenneth M. “KM” Finney and Mildred Ione Hackney Finney. On April 18, 1954 he married Marcella Mae Anderson in Martinsville, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marcella Finney of Casey, IL; daughter, Donna Marie Brandt of Westminster , CO; son, Michael Glenn (Jackie) Finney of Martinsville, IL; son, Kurt Eugene (Debbie) Finney of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Cheryln Renae Morin of Broomfield, CO; brothers, Dean (Doris) Finney of Westfield, IL; Ray (Sharon) Finney of Greenup, IL; Bruce Finney of Hobe Sound, FL and Max (Elaine) Finney of Mattoon, IL; sister, Mary (Lum) Tipsword of Decatur, IL; grandchildren, Rich Finney, Danielle (Chris) Bierman, Erika (Ty) Simon, Cody (Raissa) Finney, Raemi Morin and Eli Morin; nine great grandchildren; his Church family, his wonderful caregivers and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois Finney and Esther (Raymond) Wagner; sister in law, Martha Finney and son in law, Eric Morin.

Charles was a 1947 graduate of Casey High School. He served his country as Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a retired owner and operator of Finney’s Marathon Gas and Service Station in Martinsville, IL for over 30 years. Charles was a lifetime member of the Willis Chapel Church of God, where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, served as song leader and an Elder since 1979. He sang with his brothers in the “Finney Brothers Quartet” on the radio, in many churches and for funerals since 1956. He was a member of The Gideon’s International and the Martinsville American Legion.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Willis Chapel Church of God, 14446 N. 470th St., Martinsville, IL with Rev. Ray Finney, Rev. Dan Ledley and Rev. Randy Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Martinsville American Legion Post #515. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
