Robert Michael “Chomer” Evans, age 51, of Kansas, IL passed away at 12:37 pm on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Paris Community Hospital, Paris, IL. He was born December 1, 1965 in Charleston, IL the son of Ivan Eugene Evans and Clarice Louise Weaver Evans.
He is survived by his parents, Gene and Clarice Evans of Westfield, IL; brother, Douglas (Sheri) Evans of Tuscola, IL; sister, Patricia (Rick) Hacker of Casey, IL; nieces and nephews, Allison Hacker, Patrick Hacker, Derek, (Kelsey) Evans, Brandon Evans and Cole Evans; great nieces, Kennedy and Brooks Evans, uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends.
Mike was a 1983 graduate of Kansas High School. In his early years Mike built engines for Russell Engineering in Westfield, IL and worked on heavy equipment for C & H Gravel in Greenup, IL. He recently worked as a multistate mechanic specialist (troubleshooter) for Wiese Industrial. Mike also worked in the Illinois Prison System for ten years. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and trained Labrador Retrievers and Beagles. He was a gunsmith; he attended many skeet shooting events and was prequalified for Grand National Trap Shooting events.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday evening at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
