Betty Lucille Sweeney, age 88, of Casey, IL passed away at 10:15 am on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. She was born January 2, 1929 in Westfield, IL the daughter of Oather Breedlove and Myrtle Philippi Breedlove. On October 23, 1954 she married Roy Eugene Sweeney in Casey, IL.
He passed away on November 27, 1989.
Survivors include her sons, William (Sara) Sweeney of Spring Branch TX and Robert (Sonye) Sweeney of Seguin, TX; daughters, Barbara (Robert) Bowman of Westville, IL and Rebecca Sweeney of Casey, IL; brother, Ivan Eugene (Donna) Breedlove of Bluffton, IN; sister, Judy Pinkerton of Keystone, IN; grandchildren, Jeremy Bowman, Derek (Jennifer) Bowman, Jessica (Brandon) Runnels, Emily (Nathen) Essman, Taylor Sweeney and Lisa Sweeney; great grandchildren, Payton, Liam, Parker, Ryker, Kasen and Brayleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Arthur and Emil Breedlove; sister, Deleen Matteson and brother in law, Richard Pinkerton.
Betty was a 1947 graduate of Petroleum High School, Petroleum, IN. She was a homemaker, an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. Betty especially loved the time she spent with her family and grandchildren.
Betty’s family would like to say a special “Thank you” to the staff of Casey Health Care Center for the special care and attention their mother received for the past five years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Brian McCreanor officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
