Pastor Anita Rose Brown, age 83, of Casey, IL passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. She was born June 15, 1933 in Paris, IL the daughter of Carlos Evans Hopkins and Minnie Louise Griffin Hopkins. On August 15, 1954 she married Keith Warren Brown in Casey, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Pastor Keith Brown of Casey, IL; daughters, Angelia (Floyd) Carlen of Shiremanstown, PA and Amelia (Susan) Brown of Tampa, FL; sister, Rita Caywood (companion Rich Colclasure) of Clay City, IL; brothers, Don (Mary) Hopkins of Roseville, MN and John (Karen) Hopkins of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Christopher (Krista) Carlen of Harrisburg, PA and Diana (Frank) Gallucci of Levittown, PA; great grandchildren, Liam and Aria Carlen and Sophia and Dominic Gallucci. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother in law, Marc Caywood.

Anita was a 1951graduate of Casey High School; a 1955 graduate of Eastern Illinois University; master degrees in various sciences and Doctorate of Theology. She was a teacher in the Oakland, Tuscola and Casey schools for over 38 years. Anita was the 1976 senior class sponsor in Casey when the class wore red, white and blue robes in honor of our country’s bicentennial. Anita was an ordained minister in the Churches of God and was a former Melrose Church of God Pastor. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting and coloring; mostly she loved people and teaching.

A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Carlen officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Inurnment will be in the Jack Oak Cemetery at a later date.
