Obituary for Larry A. Harrison

Larry A. Harrison, age 77, of Martinsville, IL formerly of Charleston, IL and Oakland, IL passed away at 12:48 am on Friday, March 24, 2017 at his home. He was born in Westfield, IL the son of Max Andrew Harrison and Helen Virginia Holmes Harrison. On August 1, 1992 he married Mary Ellen Curley Cox in Martinsville, IL.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary Ellen Harrison of Martinsville, IL; children, Scott Harrison of Charleston, IL; Chad Harrison of Charleston, IL; Andrea Harrison of Charleston, IL; Amanda Harrison of Martinsville, IL; Bryan (Rogelina) Cox of Anchorage, AK; Jim Cox of Westfield, IL; David Cox of Martinsville, IL and Tracie (Joe) Inman of Charleston, IL; mother, Helen Harrison of Ashmore, IL; brother, Don (Carolyn) Harrison of Dallas, TX; sister, Nancy “Joey” (Butch) Hallowell of Ashmore, IL; sister in law, Cathy (Jerry) Downey of Casey, IL; brother in law, William Curley, Jr. of Charleston, IL; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces, his Church family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, infant stepson, Rodney Douglas Cox; a grandson and a great grandson.

Larry was a retired car salesman and truck driver. He had a gift and a passion for selling vehicles and was always willing to work with anyone. He had previously owned and operated Larry Harrison Ford in Oakland, IL for many years and continued to sell cars privately and for various car dealers in the area. Larry was a member of the Casey First Baptist Church and a 38 year member of the Hutton Masonic Lodge #698. He collected and enjoyed playing the harmonica for family and friends. He was an avid photographer and knife collector.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Jon McDonald and Pastor Keith Wallace officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 pm prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Masonic services will be conducted at 12 pm by the Hutton Masonic Lodge #698.
