Obituary for Everett Dean Walters, Sr.

Everett Dean Walters, Sr., age 86, of Wilmington, IL formerly of Martinsville, IL passed away at 2:15 pm on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home. He was born November 13, 1930 in Martinsville, IL the son of Jeff Walters and Goldie Mae Jacobs Walters. On May 23, 1953 he married Myrna Lee Estes in Junction City, KS.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Myrna Walters of Wilmington, IL; son, Alan (Lisa) Walters of Village of the Lakewood, IL; daughters, Pam Kempes of Wilmington, IL and Roxanne Foster of Coal City, IL; brother, Jerry (Karen) Walters of Mattoon, IL; sister, Jean (Morris) Webster of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Paige (Steve) Nutt, Brooke (Pat) Brown, Eric Kempes, Blair (Jeff) Horath, Doug Foster, Linnea Walters, Connor Hudak and Trevor Hudak and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, E. Dean Walter Jr. and son in law, Fred Kempes.

Dean was a retired well driller. He served his country in the US Army during Korean war. He was a member of the Blue Grass Church of God in Martinsville, IL where he served as a Deacon for many years. He enjoyed working on small engines and rebuilt antique tractors. Dean was an avid NASCAR, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Hollensbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL with graveside military rites by the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon prior to the service at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
