Janice Arlene (Nott) Ekstrom Funk, 80, of Casey, IL passed away at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at her home. She was born November 10, 1936 in Lewiston, IL, the daughter of Kay and Bertha (Butler) Nott. On May 12, 1990, she married Rev. Don William Funk in Hindsboro, IL. He passed away on March 11, 2013.

Survivors include sons, Michael Ekstrom and wife Cindy of Mahomet, IL; William Ekstrom of Fairbury, IL; Jonathan Ekstrom and wife HiDee of Royal, IL; David Ekstrom and wife Cheryl of Bondville, IL; daughter, Kathleen Lewis and husband Nathan of Casey, IL; step-sons, Dan L. Funk of Mt. Vernon, IN; Tim Funk of Cambridge, IL; John Funk and wife Cindy of Decatur, IL; step-daughters, Donna Mars and husband Gary of Long Creek, IL; Paula Jo Funk of East Peoria, IL; sisters, Eleanor Long of Macomb, IL; Berta Rohrer and husband Gary of Avon IL; brother, Charles Nott and wife Clara of Lewiston, IL; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Funk, her parents Kay and Bertha Nott, and her sister, Reta Torrance.

Janice is a graduate of Western Illinois University with a major in math and physics. She went on to teach at several schools in Illinois, most notably Beecher City. She was a woman of great faith, and was very active in the United Methodist church. She was a lifelong Cubs fan. She enjoyed bird-watching and gardening, doing puzzles, quilting, travel, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Casey United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Fairchild officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Cemetery, rural Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 12 (noon) to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Casey United Methodist Church, 703 N State Hwy 49, Casey, IL.
