Charlotte June Spraggins (Greenwell) peacefully passed into the hands of the Lord on January 23, 2017, She was born and raised in Martinsville, IL on May 20, 1936. Charlotte moved with her family to Howell, MI in 1966 where she has resided until her passing. Children were the blessing of her life and this was evident in the joy she got from her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She continued her love of children in her career in teaching elementary aged children for 27 years after earning her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Eastern Illinois University. Charlotte had a large impact on many students in the Howell area and enjoyed the possibility of having the ability to touch a young person’s life. Charlotte loved to tend to her flower gardens, walk the beaches of Florida, travel domestically/internationally, interior decorating, shopping, teaching both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and hosting family get-togethers.
Surviving Charlotte is her husband of 59 years, Jack Spraggins, four children, Rod and Evelyn Spraggins, Lisa (Spraggins) and Chuck Thornton, Greg and Alissa Spraggins and Mike and Leslie Spraggins; 12 grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Robbie, Ben, Nico, Amy, Madalyn, Jason, Jackson, Liam, Cameron and Olivia; ten great-grandchildren, Kalie, Noah, Ashlyn, Aiden, Carter, Dylan, Emmett, Jettson, Scarlett and Lenora; three siblings, Jim and Penny Greenwell, Della (Ken) Headrick, Sharon (Don) Juergens and sister in law, Linda (Roger) Vandyke. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at MacDonald’s Funeral Home, Howell, MI. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Inman officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, 989 Spaulding Ave. SE, Ada, MI 49301.
