Russell Todd Strobel, age 53, of Martinsville, IL formerly of Vandalia, IL passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born March 11, 1963 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Dean Otto Strobel and Willie Dean Isabel Strobel. On October 25, 2008 he married Melissa E. Myers at Moriah Church of God in rural Casey, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa Strobel of Martinsville, IL; mother, Willie Strobel of Vandalia, IL; children, Samantha, Rachel and Travis Strobel and Adrianna and Kaitlin Conner; brothers, Rob (Sharon) Strobel of Vandalia, IL and Randy Strobel of Ramsey, IL; many additional family members; friends and Yorkie, “Bella”; Pugs, “Lilly” and “Frank” and Chiweenie, “Bruno.” He was preceded in death by his father.
Russell was a 1981 graduate of Vandalia High School. He and Melissa worked as self-employed on-line retailers. Russell enjoyed hunting; fishing and most recently had a passion for astronomy and studying the stars. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Lakins officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
