Mary Ruth Shelley, age 64, of Martinsville, IL passed away 4 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at her daughters home in Martinsville, IL. She was born August 19, 1952 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Ernest Wilbert Conner and Doris Maxine Williams Conner. On July 13, 1995 she married Jackie Shelley in Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Jackie Shelley of Martinsville, IL; daughter, Laura (Robert) Hays of Martinsville, IL; grandchildren, Kayse (Kelsie) Hays and Ravven Hays of Martinsville, IL; great granddaughter, Azlyn Hays. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Charles and John Conner and infant daughter, Christina Prater.
Mrs. Shelley was homemaker and a home health care provider. She was a devout Christian and enjoyed reading the Bible; she would spend hours in Bible study and held Bible studies in her home. Mary enjoyed crocheting, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved her cats and dogs.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Ledley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
