Lewis Gail Fessenbeck, age 81, of Marshall, IL passed away at 10:56 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Burnsides Community Health Center, Marshall, IL. He was born January 16, 1935 in Martinsville, IL the son of Vernie Allen Fessenbeck and Mabel Davis Fessenbeck. On June 19, 1955 he married Vivian Ann Howe in Martinsville, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 61years, Vivian Fessenbeck of Marshall, IL; son, Kirk Fessenbeck of Marshall, IL; daughter, Julie Higginbotham and husband Randy of Marshall, IL; grandson, Reese Higginbotham and fiancé Abbie Wooten; granddaughter, Paige Higginbotham and friend Ryan Hefner; sister, Carolyn Hills of Marshall, IL and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, James G. Hills.

Gail was a 1953 graduate of Martinsville High School. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Gail was a retired accountant. He had previously worked in the local bank in Martinsville, IL and an auto dealership in Sullivan, IN. He was a member of the Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as a pianist, elder, Sunday school teacher and camp counselor for many years. He was also active in the Martinsville Lions Club, Martinsville Sportsman Club and was treasurer for the Martinsville Fair. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Illini sports fan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Willow Creek Church with Rev. Kevin Small officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service at the Willow Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6492 E 400th Rd, Martinsville, IL. Burial will be in the Butternut Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL at a later date.
