Walter Junior "Walt"  Scott
Walter Junior “Walt” Scott, age 78, of Casey, IL passed away at 11:58 a.m. on Monday, September 5, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 16, 1938 in Martinsville, IL, the son of Walter Ernest Scott and Ruby Lavona Mallory Scott. On December 29, 1961 he married Betty Jo Simpson in Casey, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Scott of Casey, IL; son, Wayne Andrew “Andy” (Pam) Scott of Herrick, IL; granddaughters, Amanda Scott and Sarah Sanders of Emily, MN; brothers, Gerald Scott of Rockville, IN; Warren (Sharon) Scott of Martinsville, IL and sisters, Florence Wilson of Brunswick, GA and Phyllis (Gene) Ward of Champaign, IL and last but not least he leaves behind his little Yorkie girl “Trixie” who was always on his lap and steadfast by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chester and Charles Everett Scott and sister, Mary Ann Zachary.

Walt was a 1956 graduate of Martinsville High School. He served his country in the US Army. Walt retired in September 2001 after working highway maintenance for many years for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a catcher for the Casey Truckers and a member of the National Softball Hall of Fame. In 1996 he was inducted into the Illinois ASA Hall of Fame. Walt also enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, frog gigging, “Turtling”, and was an avid fisherman. His favorite indoor sports were competitive pool playing and bowling.

At his request private family services will be conducted. Inurnment will be held in the Washington Street Cemetery, Casey, IL at a later date.
