Kenneth “Kenny” Gene Wilson, age 71, of Casey, IL passed away at 11:03 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2016 at VA Illiana Health Care, Danville, IL.
He was born August 21, 1945 in Cumberland County, IL, the son of Kenneth Larb Wilson and Helen M. Gardner Wilson. On August 2, 1969 he married Carolyn Sue Bland in Casey, IL. She passed away on February 27, 2009.
Survivors include his children, Allan (Valerie) Wilson, Lynn (Charles) Mahlemeister, and Kent Wilson, all of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Destinee Chaelyn Mahlemeister, Noah Gene Wilson, Xavier Jay Edwards and Adeline Elaine Edwards; brother, Jimmie Wilson of Casey, IL; sisters, Shelia (Vern) Bland of Casey, IL and Debbie Siegrist of Miami, OK and many nieces and nephews. His parents, Ken Wilson and Helen Wilson McKelfresh; his wife, Carolyn Sue Wilson; infant son, Kenneth L. Wilson; brother-in-law, Rick Siegrist and nephew, Chandler Wilson preceded him in death.
Kenny was a 1964 graduate of Casey High School. He served his country in the US Air Force and was a janitor at Lusterlite in Casey, IL for many years. Kenny attended and was a proud supporter of all Casey Westfield Athletic events. He was an avid sports fan; he especially enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the Casey Moose Lodge and a member of the Casey First Christian Church. Kenny enjoyed playing softball in the local church league on the Trucker diamond. He was a kindhearted person who never met a stranger; he always had a smile on his face and was very generous.
Funeral services will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Military rites will follow by the Casey VFW, Hazel Dell American Legion and the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL. Burial will be in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery at a later date.
