Dorothy Bernice  Burdette
Dorothy Bernice Burdette, age 89, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 6:40 a.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016 at the Cumberland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Greenup, IL.

She was born November 5, 1926 in Berea, OH, the daughter of John Raymond Goodling and Bernice Josephine Downs Goodling.
In 1958 she married Howard E. Burdette. He passed away in 1988.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail (Bill) Ulrey of Martinsville, IL; granddaughter, Becky (Marshall) Carlen of Greenup, IL; grandson, Wade Ulrey of Toledo, OH; great grandson, Colby Carlen; sister-in-law, Kay Goodling of Bondville, IL; many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Ellie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Ray Goodling.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL with the Rev. Karen Blank-Ewell officiating.

Burial will follow in rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday morning prior to the service at the Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, IL.

Dorothy was a graduate of Fisher High School, Fisher, IL. She was a retired civil service secretary. Dorothy worked in the military hospitals during the time her husband was enlisted in the US Airforce. She was very artistically talented, witty and funny. Dorothy enjoyed painting, sewing and needlepoint. She made and collected dolls and was an avid QVC shopper. Dogs and cats were her constant companions and she raised German Shepherd dogs for many years.
