Obituary for Elnora Jean "Jerry" Hepler Veach

Elnora Jean “Jerry” Hepler Veach, age 100, of Westfield, IL passed away at 3 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 14, 1916 in Terre Haute, IN, the daughter of Emory Allen Hepler and Anna Baxter Hepler. On April 12, 1936 she married Jesse “Mack” Veach in Casey, IL. He passed away in 1966.

Survivors include son, Rondal Veach of Charleston, IL; daughter, Delores Galey of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Larry, Debbie, David, Ron and Jamie, great grandchildren, Chris, Adam, Ryan, Marissa, Brandon, Kyle, Matthew and Katie; great great grandchildren, Olivia, Elijah, Adriana, Julia and Adeline and her loyal and caring friends, Glenna, Judy, Clinton, Shirley and Chad. She was preceded in death by her father; daughter, June Kathleen Veach; mother; brother; William J. Hepler; sister, Dorothy Lewis and son-in-law, Walter Galey.

Jerry was a graduate of Marshall High School. While in school she was a member of the Girls Athletic Association. She enjoyed tap dancing and painting; her art work was displayed at the state competition. Jerry was a longtime employee of the Casey Shoe Manufacturing Company, where she worked as a stitcher. She has sewn and repaired many an outfit for people from all over the area. Her creations were worn by many bridal parties and prom attendees. Jerry was known as one of the best seamstresses in the area. When not keeping busy with her sewing, she could be found working in her garden and yard. Jerry was a faithful member of the Westfield First Baptist Church. She was a loving and kind mother and grandmother; she will be greatly missed by her family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Westfield Baptist Church, 125 S. Fulton St., Westfield, IL with Rev. Brian Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Markwell Chapel, 119 Washington St., Westfield, IL.
