Roger Paul Davis, age 50, of Westfield, IL departed this earthly life on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 14, 1966 in Mattoon, IL, the son of Perry G. Davis and Naomi Morgan Davis.

He leaves to mourn his passing a daughter, Whitney Nikole Davis of Mattoon, IL and three granddaughters, Kaylee, Gracie and Lexie. One granddaughter, Chloe Rachel, preceded him in death.

Survivors also include his parents, Perry and Naomi Davis of Casey, IL; brother, Gene Davis of Westfield, IL; sister, Deborah (Russell) Conrad of Casey, IL; nephews and nieces, Nickolas Davis, who is currently attending Owen Graduate School, Vanderbilt University at Nashville, TN, Michael Davis of Westfield, IL, Meghan (Seth) Ghast of Casey, IL and Holly Conrad, in the US Navy stationed in Honolulu, HI. To be with her family, Holly is flying home from Oak Harbor, WA where she has been deployed for 30 days to attend career training. Also surviving are great nephews and nieces, Nadylie and Kyler Ghast, Kourtney Davis and Emily Bentley; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Roger was a 1984 graduate of Westfield High School. Following high school graduation, Roger enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He served his country on two deployments – one on the USS America and another on the USS Theodore Roosevelt. Roger was rated as an outstanding Marine with an attained rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged due to a service connected disability. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Casey VFW. Roger was a loving, caring son, brother, uncle, cousin, father and grandfather. He was always concerned with others and never knew a stranger. Roger’s favorite pastimes were watching TV and fishing. He got so excited when he caught a big fish and always called “Mom” to come and take a picture of it. Roger looked forward to spending time with his granddaughters and liked to share pictures of them.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Toner officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Cemetery, Coles County, IL with graveside military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
