Ruth Louise King, 90, of Marshall, IL formerly of Martinsville, IL passed away at 12:38 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN with her family by her side. She was born January 26, 1926 in Martinsville, IL the daughter of Sylvan Loring Perisho and Myrtie Irene Pendleton Perisho. On August 2, 1948 she married Chester L. “Chet” Scott in Martinsville, IL. He passed away on September 19, 2000. She later married Raymond Arthur King on November 20, 2003 in Brazil, IN.
Survivors include her husband, Ray King of Marshall, IL; niece, Linda Perisho (Jeffery) Padgett of Colona, IL; stepson, George King of Newton, IL; stepdaughters, Julie Diane Vanek of Lumberton, TX and Jenny Shadowins of Miami, FL; great nephew, David (Aimee) Padgett and their children, Elijah, Zion and Elliana of Moline, IL; great niece, Emilie (Corey) Munsell, missionaries in Albania; step grandchildren, Alexis King and Manny King; her pet Maltese, Precious; many nephews, nieces, in-laws, her church family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Chet Scott; brothers, Louis Perisho and Loring Lee Perisho; niece, Sherry Perisho; nephew, Bradley Perisho and stepdaughter, Cindy Trehan.
Mrs. King was a retired hostess and cashier for the Derby Hill Restaurant in West Terre Haute, IN, Earl’s in West Union, IL and the Hen House Restaurant in Martinsville, IL. She later provided in-home care for the elderly in the area. Ruth was an active and faithful member of the Martinsville United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at the Martinsville United Methodist Church, 115 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL with Rev. Karen Blank-Ewell and Pastor Adam Hafenbridle officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
