They were married for 64 years when he passed away on March 6, 2011.

Cleda was a devoted farm wife. She and Leonard worked side by side to create a wonderful life for their family. Cleda loved watching the corn and beans grow as well as her garden and flowers. In the winter she would create beautiful quilts and crocheted many items. She was a fantastic cook. The entire family enjoyed and talked about her fried chicken, noodles, brown beans, homemade hot rolls and her apple pie. We will all miss those wonderful meals!

Growing up her children were very lucky, Santa (mom) came to their house on Christmas Eve and gave them presents in person. Cleda especially enjoyed Santa’s visits and seeing her children’s reaction. After her children were grown she began driving a school bus for the Jasper County School District. Cleda drove for over 20 years and spoke often of her bus kids; she enjoyed seeing them in her later years and finding out what they were doing.
