Jerry Leo Green, 72, of Casey, IL passed away the morning of Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in the comfort of his home with his loving wife, Lavora, at his side following a brief battle with cancer.
Jerry was born to Leo and Leah Mae (Kenderdine) Green on February 13, 1943 in Melrose Township in Clark County, IL. Jerry graduated from Martinsville High School in 1961. He farmed with his father and managed Leo Green Equipment in Yale after his father’s passing. He sprayed for Crouch Fertilizer before working at Bolin Enterprises for over 25 years. On October 5, 2004 he married Lavora Gabbard Wilhoit Snyder in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Jerry was a member of Bailiff Church in West York, IL and attended the Martinsville Baptist Church. His love for family was unconditional and his favorite time of year was his annual 4th of July fish fry and fireworks show. He loved his dogs, playing pranks on family and friends, attending and watching NASCAR events, and fishing.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Lavora Green of Casey; daughters, Shellie (Steve) Keigley of Westfield and Paula (Tim) Blair of Casey; step-children, Aaron Snyder and friend Kristen of Casey, Jeremy Wilhoit of Effingham, Shane (Carla) Livvix of Marshall, and Jenny Livvix of Marshall; grandchildren, Nick Davis of Nashville, TN, Michael Davis of Westfield, Matt (Tori) Timmons of Casey, Jesse (Jenny) Blair of Casey, Brandon Blair of New Orleans, LA, Levi Keigley of New Mexico, Hannah Foltz of Charleston, Kayleah Foltz of Carbondale, and Peyton Blair of Casey; great grandchildren, Emily Bentley of Marshall and Kourtney Davis of Westfield; sisters, Marsha (Chuck) Ogle and Sharon (Greg) Wells of West York; brothers, Gary (Debby) of West Union and Chris (Vick) of Annapolis, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jackie Lee, and step-daughter, Jackie Livvix.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Bro. Art Orndorff and Bro. Steve Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
