Roy Allen Johnson, 86, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:27 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. He was born June 15, 1929 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Sidney Ebbon Johnson and Lou Alma Carrel Johnson. On October 1, 1952 he married Shirlee Ashley in Pocahontas, AR.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Shirlee Johnson of Casey, IL; sons, Allan Johnson and wife Bea of Carson, CA and Sid Johnson and wife Patty of Elkhorn, WI; grandchildren, Neal Johnson, Cindy Johnson, Nick Johnson, Teresa Johnson, Lisa Armic and husband Greg, and Shalyn Keeman. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Paula Carpenter and Marcyle Duncan.
Roy was a 1948 graduate of Casey High School. After graduation he joined the US Navy for 8 years and then spent 12 years in the US Air Force. He served his country during the Korean War. After his retirement from the Air Force, Roy worked five years for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Terre Haute, IN. He was the owner of KZ Cars for many years. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family.
A graveside memorial service and inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey IL with Rev. Marvin Oakley officiating. Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by the Casey VFW, the Hazel Dell American Legion and the Martinsville American Legion.
