She was born November 25, 1942 to Donald William Sydenstricker and Mary Hazel Cooley Sydenstricker Calhoun. She married James Hone “Honie” on December 31, 1960. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2009. Also preceding her in death were a sister and a brother.

Surviving are a daughter, Debbie Sowers of Casey, IL; a son, Danny (Cindy) Hone of West Union, IL; five grandchildren, Jennifer (James) Gehrls of Casey, Jeremy (Amanda) Smith of Toledo, Jessica Smith of Casey, Emily and Anna Hone of West Union; eight great-grandchildren, Skylie, Jamison and Sarah Gehrls, Caleb, Daigan and Xander Peters and Trevor and Mya Smith of Toledo; and two sisters, Barbara Haskett of Tower Hill and Vicki Vance of Columbia, SC.

Linda attended Mattoon High School. She was employed in the retail market working many years at 3D, Kmart, and Wal-Mart in Mattoon. Her and her husband built a house behind the Coles County Airport where they lived until the time of Jim’s death in 2009. She was a member of the First Alliance Church, and the Charleston Alliance Church which later was renamed Woodlawn Community Church. Linda was a devout Christian and loved her Lord and Savior. A prayer warrior, Linda would stop police officers and pray with them for their protection. She would stop people who looked like they were hurting and would pray for them. In her younger years, Linda enjoyed crafting and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She was always the life of the party and loved to make people laugh. She was also one of those crazy cat women and would take in every stray cat she found.

At her request cremation rites were accorded. Private burial was held in Bethel Cemetery in Mattoon, IL. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Casey First Church of the Nazarene, 2903 E. US Highway 40, Casey, IL.
