Ruth Helen Jodry, 99, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 10:08 a.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, IL. She was born on August 31, 1916 in Coles County, IL, the daughter of John Chauncey Hill and Matilda Jane Coleman Hill. On January 29, 1935 she married Harold Payne Hawkins. He passed away on June 12, 1965. She later married Lewis “Dude” Jodry on August 26, 1969. He passed away on June 11, 2005.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen Dorber of Vestal, NY; grandsons, George Dorber and wife Tami of Vestal, NY and Richard Dorber and wife April of Lehigh Acres, FL; and three great granddaughters, Julie, Jessica and Jennifer Dorber. She was preceded by her parents, husbands, son in law, Malcolm Dorber and brothers, John C. Hill, Jr., Bill Hill and James Hill.
Ruth was a postal clerk for the United State Post Office in Martinsville, IL for over 30 years. She attended the Blue Grass Church of God. Ruth was a member of the Ste. Grace Chapter Order of the Eastern Star and was a Grand Lecturer for 30 years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Greenwell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. with Eastern Star Services at 10 a.m. prior to the service at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
