Obituary for George M. Hudson

George M.   Hudson
George M. Hudson, 97, of Casey, Illinois passed away at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Heartland Nursing Center, Casey, Illinois. He was born August 23, 1918 in Casey, Illinois, the son of Elisha Melvin Hudson and Mary Florence McKenzie Hudson. On June 29, 1940 he married Geneva Pearl Johnson in Shelbyville, Kentucky. She passed away on February 16, 2009.

Survivors include his son, Dr. Hal Curtis Hudson, Sr. and wife Alice Marie Hudson of Caro, MI; grandson, Hal Curtis Hudson, Jr.; granddaughters, Dalice Janice Hudson and Lecretia Leanne Hudson; his long time caregiver, Cathy Inman and her husband Kenny of Martinsville, IL and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Janice Earlene Ormsby on October 10, 1968; brothers, Melvin, Ray, Frank, Vernon and John Hudson and sisters, Bessie Steele and Lucretia Brosman.

Mr. Hudson was a US Army WWII veteran. He worked for Forest Oil Co for over twenty-three years and was a service manager for Casey Implement for over eleven years. George was a rural mail carrier in Casey, IL for many years. He was a member of the Hazel Dell American Legion Post #1230 and the oldest member of the Casey VFW Post # 5762. George attended the Hazel Dell Church of God in Hazel Dell, IL and the Casey White Oak Church of God in Casey, IL. He enjoyed restoring N Ford tractors.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Rick Emrich and Rev. Kenny Inman officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL with graveside military rites by the Casey VFW and the Hazel Dell American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
