Obituary for Jerry Dale Robey

Jerry Dale Robey, 69, of Greenup, IL passed away at 6 a.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at his home in rural Greenup, IL. He was born January 3, 1946 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of Leonard Herbert Robey and Wanda June Collins Robey. On September 17, 1966 he married Mary June Haley in Greenup, IL.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, June Robey of Greenup, IL; son, John Robey of Neoga, IL; daughters, Deborah Light and husband Vincent of Greenup, IL, Rachel Snedeker and husband Chris of Casey, IL and Joni Easton of MS; parents, Leonard and Wanda Robey of Casey, IL; brother, Michael Robey of UT; sisters, Connie Sullivan of Casey, IL and Mary Ann Funk and husband Harold of Casey, IL; grandchildren, Lucas Light and wife Chelsey of Newton, IL, Gabriel Light of Toledo, IL, Seth Repp of Charleston, IL, Jamin Repp of Toledo, IL, Elijah Justice of Bossier City, LA, Jordan Justice of Greenup, IL, Breanna Robey of Toledo, IL, John Robey of Toledo, IL, Ezekiel and Cailynn Easton of Mississippi, and Chris and Nadia Snedeker of Casey, IL; and great granddaughter, Averi Light.

Jerry was a 1964 graduate of Casey High School. He was a US Army veteran where he handled heavy equipment training in the Army. Jerry was extremely proud of his grandson Elijah currently serving in the Air Force. Jerry was a heavy equipment operator with Local 841 Operating Engineers. He was an avid coon hunter and horse enthusiast who enjoyed horseback riding. Jerry loved coon hunting with his grandsons, son and sons in law when they could. Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather; his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor David Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Aten Cemetery, rural Greenup, IL with military rites by the Greenup VFW. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 am prior to the service at the Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
