Myron Lynn Nave, 68, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 11:30 am on Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home in Martinsville, IL. He was born February 7, 1947 on the family’s homestead in Orange Township, Clark County, IL the son of Benjamin Edward Nave and Sylvia Marie Swope Nave. On September 12, 1969 he and Russella “Rusty” Lascelles were married at the Olive Branch Baptist Church by her father Rev. Virgil Lascelles.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rusty Nave of Martinsville, IL; son, Rev. Michael (Carol Ann) Nave of Marion, IL; daughter, Marci (Ken) Foley of Noblesville, IN; brothers, Larry (Ann) Nave of Martinsville, IL and Jerry (Judie) Nave of Marshall, IL; sister, Sandra (Robert) Glenn of Greenup, IL; grandsons, Zachary Nave, Parker Nave, Layton Nave, Evan Foley, Callen Foley, two foster grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Myron was a 1965 graduate of Martinsville High School and a 1972 graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He served his country in the US Army from 1966 – 1968 as a helicopter crew chief. He was a licensed pilot and continued his love of aviation throughout his life. Myron retired after 30 years as an Agriculture/Science Teacher at Martinsville High School and served as the FFA advisor. He also taught welding classes for Lake Land College. Myron was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a cattle and grain farmer and proudly worked part of the family centennial farm. One of his greatest joys in life was his time spent playing with his grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Olive Branch Baptist Church, 2892 N. 1000th St., Martinsville, IL with Rev. Michael Nave and Bro. Randy Nave officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Branch Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday evening at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
