Ronald Dean "Ron"  Janney
Ronald Dean “Ron” Janney, 82, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 7:13 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Burnsides Community Health Center, Marshall, IL. He was born August 20, 1932 in Martinsville, IL the son of Dean Kermit Janney and Mary Esther Orr Janney. On September 7, 1952 he married Freda Maxine Carpenter in Martinsville, IL.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Maxine Janney of Martinsville, IL; sons, Carl Dean (Sharon) Janney of West York, IL and Jeff (Tammi) Janney of Casey, IL; daughters, Vicki (Del) Reed of Casey, IL; Patty Hain of Marshall, IL and Cindy (Gene) Kannmacher of Martinsville, IL; sister, Melissa A. (Donald) Miller of Clay City, IN; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Dick, Marion and Bill Janney, an infant brother and great granddaughter, Raegan Wallace.
Ron was a 1951 graduate of Martinsville High School. He was a US Army veteran serving his country during the Korean War. Ron was a member of the Martinsville American Legion Post 515 and was a volunteer fireman and secretary for the Martinsville Fire Department. Mr. Janney was the parts man for Sinclair Implement for over 28 years. He later worked at Charles Industries and earlier in his life had worked at the original IGA in Casey. Ron was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for several years. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking but most of all, spending time with his grandkids.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Billie Ray Ulrey officiating. Burial will follow in the Island Grove Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL with graveside military rites by the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL.
