Obituary for Daniel Lee Newell

Daniel Lee Newell, 62, of Martinsville, IL passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Hines VA Hospital, Hines, IL. He was born December 14, 1952 in Chicago, IL the son of Robert Newell and Joyce Dowling Newell. On August 30, 1975 he married Cynthia Ellen Cribelar in Martinsville, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy Newell of Martinsville, IL; son, Daniel Lee Newell II of Martinsville, IL; brothers, Mike Newell and wife Debbie of OH; Robert Newell of MD; sisters, Robin Newell of MI; Kim Krug of FL; Colleen Wong of Decatur, IL; Deanna Chrysler and husband Clark of Robinson, IL; Joanna Hill and husband Dale of MA; Florence Beaty and husband Tim of Martinsville, IL; Debbie Davison and husband Randy of Martinsville, IL; Mary Shelton and husband Mike of Melrose, IL; Donna Quinn of TN and Pat Rice of Chicago, IL; stepmother, Deanne Newell Petitjean of Martinsville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Jeff Petitjean and Brian Harvey and stepfather, Paul Petitjean.
Dan was the owner and operator of Little Creek Computers and Little Creek Kennel in Martinsville, IL. He was a US Navy veteran. He was a member of the Martinsville Bible Church where he sang in the choir. He was a member of the Martinsville American Legion Post 515, Martinsville Masonic Clark Lodge 603 and the Shriners. He also enjoyed coaching football.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Greenwell Funeral Home with Bro. Michael Cribelar officiating. Burial will follow in the Bluegrass Cemetery, Martinsville, IL with graveside military rites by the Martinsville American Legion. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Greenwell Funeral Home, 30 N. Washington St., Martinsville, IL with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m.
