Lelia Mae Allentharp, 66, of Casey, IL went to be with Jesus at 6:42 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Coles County, IL. She was born February 28, 1948 in Oakland, CA, the daughter of James Johns and Virginia Lois Shafer Johns. On January 1, 1982 she married John Ralph Allentharp in Casey, IL. He passed away on June 6, 1997.
Survivors include her sister, Donna Johns of Casey, IL; stepchildren, John R. Allentharp and Gwen Michael both of CA; four step grandchildren, cousins, friends, neighbors and her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Lelia was a proud US Army veteran. She was a charter member of “The Women’s Memorial,” women in military service for America. Lelia was a member of the Casey First Baptist Church in Casey, IL where she assisted in the office and helped around the church in many capacities.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Casey First Baptist Church with Pastor Jon McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, IL. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the Casey First Baptist Church, 101 E. Alabama St., Casey, IL.
