Daniel Edward Phillips, 98, of Clinton, IN formerly of Scottland, IL passed away at 3 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the home of his son Daniel, in Clinton, IN. He was born March 14, 1913 in Casey, IL, the son of Alba Benton Phillips and Allie S. Grubb Phillips. On April 26, 1936 he married Edna Izetta Thompson. She passed away on April 18, 2009.


Survivors include his sons, Douglas Phillips of Ficher, TX; Bruce Phillips and wife Martha of Scottland, IL and Daniel Phillips, Jr. and wife Patty of Clinton, IN; his daughters, Flossie Pollock of Deming, NM and Lois Tharp and husband Ronald of Deming, NM; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and twenty-one great great grandchildren. His parents, wife, brothers, Ray and Roy Phillips, son-in-law, Bill Pollock, daughter-in-law Lexie, and an infant son preceded him in death.


Daniel was a retired lifetime agriculture and livestock farmer. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and watching birds.


In honor of his wishes, a family and friends graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. CST (3 p.m. EST) on Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Auburn Twp. Cemetery, Clark Center, IL with Rev. Scott Coombes officiating.
